SATURDAY 26TH JANUARY 2008 @ NANTMAWR QUARRY, OSWESTRY, SHROPSHIRE

WHO IS TOUGH ENOUGH? ? ?

WOR Events are pleased and very proud to announce full details of the forthcoming off road bonanza that is known as the Tough One Extreme Sprint Scramble.

The event is now full and undergoing intense planning and preparation ready to be unleashed on the lucky British public on the 3rd Saturday in January 2008.

THE LINE UP ……..

The UK's World conquering off road star David Knight will be trying to take his factory KTM to a fourth straight Tough One win. Knight is confirmed and rides with the number 1 plate.

Making things difficult for the super human Manxman will be a very strong contingent of Britain's' best off road riders including current British Enduro Champion, Tom Sagar and extreme specialist and former Hells Gate winner, Wayne Braybrook.
4 times World Enduro Champion Paul Edmondson and a whole host of top names that reads like a who's who of the British Enduro scene will also do their best to derail the Knighter.

Is Taddy Tough Enough?????

But one name that the fans will be wishing to see on the list is that of young Polish KTM extreme star, TADDY BLAZUSIAK.
He is confirmed and will ride with number 5 on his factory extreme bike.
The current Erzberg champion has just recently added the Vegas indoor crown and the coveted Last Man Standing titles to his growing name, making him a true Extreme specialist and world renowned off road star.
If any one can take the Tough One title from David Knight, it's the wiry 24 year old former trials rider who has a style all of his own with some very impressive speed thrown into the mix.
Full entry lists have been released with this information.

THE EVENT…………

No where in the UK next year will you be able to see these two Extreme Enduro specialists do battle with each other in an enclosed area with fantastic viewing and close up action, other than, The WOR TOUGH ONE at Nantmawr Quarry.

The event has grown in stature over the last 3 years and now stands alone as Britain's top Spectator Enduro fest, rubbing shoulders with all of Europe and Americas top extreme events

The Expert and Clubman classes are both jammed full,
With the experts running in the same race as the pro's,in the main event, that leaves the clubman with a 1.5hr event of their own that opens the days proceedings at 9.30am.

The GAS GAS UK Speed Trial (fantastic last year!!) is back with a full and quality entry that will race for an extra 30 minutes than last year meaning a 1.5hr battle for the likes of Colley, Jarvis, Wigg and Morris to name but a few. This will start at 12.30pm.
The top trials rider gets the chance to ride the first hour of the main Tough One….If he is leading at that point he will have earned himself a further £1000 and one hell of a reputation!!
This is going to happen due to the buzz and hype surrounding Steve Colleys awesome win at last years event and the public's "he could have won the main event!!" quotes.

The organisers have brought in some subtle changes for the main event this year….ones that they hope will ensure even more value for money for the thousands of spectators that are expected to flock into the haunting Shropshire quarry.

A Tougher, smaller, more quarry based track will await the riders and spectators alike.
More log sections, more lorry beds, more rocks and more hills are going to be the order of the day, some of the new down hill sections will be just plain scary.
The "ROOT OF ALL EVIL","THE TRAIL TECH ROCK GARDEN", "And THE CFM LOG BLOCKERS" all return to make this event so special.
Coupled with the fact that the entry line up has been restricted to 50 riders means that the lucky punters will get to see Knight, Blazusiak and co circulating the challenging course every 4 minutes instead of the usual 8 minute mark, hence doubling the spectator experience.

Although the event has been a huge success in the dark for the last 2 years with the second hour always being in floodlit madness, this year will be different, with most of the 2hr spectacle being run in the hours of daylight.
Starting 1 hour earlier at around 3pm so the fans can see the Worlds best, pre loading their factory suspension and negotiating the demanding Tough One terrain without guessing who it is behind the glare of the powerful lighting systems.
These two points alone will ensure the racing action is never far away from the crowd.
The riders will still have to be prepared for the dark though as the final 15-20 minutes will be in the black stuff.

Instead of a run to the machines, the pro's will have to put in BOTH front and rear wheels on the start line before they can commence battle, so get practising guys as the quicker you are on the tools, the quicker you will be away.

With a huge £4k prize pot up for grabs within the days race structure their will certainly be a lot of trying, sweating and grunting from the quality rider line up.

Race commentary and rider interviews will be taking place throughout the day along with the presentation of 2007's MOTUL and GAS GAS championships that WOR proudly organised.

All this adds up to a fantastic day's sport that is unique in so many ways.

A constant worry for the organisers is the parking area and lack of space that this area has. The fact that some people come to the event with just 2 people in one vehicle is always a problem so this year there will be a parking fee on all vehicles of £10 per car and £15 for a van or mini bus BUT the entrance fee of £15 per person stays the same.
Get your friends together, jump in the car/van, Pay on the gate and enjoy a truly wonderful days off road action.
This will hopefully help spectators to squash in their mates cars or be the driver for their mates for the day and in doing so free off some very valuable space in the car park area.

So here it is….The TOUGH ONE 2008.
